Lining "Calm": size, grade and use

Lining Calm: size, grade and use

Wood for many years remains the leader among the finishing materials. No wonder, because the microclimate inherent in wooden rooms has a positive effect on people's health, and the aroma of natural wood persists for quite a long time. The appearance of the tree is also wonderful. However, the price of natural materials is always high, so today manufacturers offer options for profiled lumber, which are quite affordable. Molded "Calm" - an option that can attract attention with its operational and aesthetic qualities.

What it is?

Wall paneling is a profiled board for facing walls inside buildings and exterior trimmed with antiseptic compounds.

Lining panels differ in several ways.

  • According to the material of wood. Lining happens from wood of coniferous or deciduous breeds. The strength, color, texture, durability of the panels depend on the wood type.
  • According to the class of wood. Class “A” is considered to be the best, the material for the production of boards in this case is free of defects, there are no areas of high humidity. In class "B" these flaws may be present in small quantities. Class “C” is low quality wood with areas of decay, knots and cracks.
  • By profile. There are several types of profiles: normal, Euro lining, American, block house, lining under the frame, under the beam, "calm".

“Calm” is a profile of cladding panels for plating, which quickly and easily allows you to mount an almost perfectly flat wall. Such facing material looks beautiful and harmoniously fit into any interior. The solidity of the surface is achieved due to the butt assembly of the panel and the rounded chamfer from the edges of the product. The connecting shelf, unlike usual lining, is absent.

Along the entire length of the panel, a special groove is provided in the “calm” wall paneling to ensure free access of air. This allows airing to get rid of excess moisture in the wood, formed due to the formation of condensate. During operation, such lining shows itself better.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like all building materials from wood, all the features of this natural material are characteristic of “calm” lining. These are strength, ecological naturalness, durability, aesthetic beauty and expressiveness.

Lining the profile "calm" has advantages, which are achieved thanks to its design features and processing.

  • The surface of the lining is smooth, due to this, the scope is significantly expanded.
  • A wide range of sizes of products (width and length), which makes it possible to use them for finishing both the rooms as a whole and the sections of the walls or ceiling. At the same time, the number of joints can be made minimal due to the elongated and widened board.
  • The installation process is easy and fast due to the low weight of the material and the ready-to-fasten groove system.
  • The texture of natural wood, the choice of colors, no need for painting.
  • The strength of the finished structure, resistance to deformation processes. Fixation of elements is reliable and there is no possibility of their separation during operation.
  • The assembled cladding retains its original appearance for a long time, the panel of the wall panel does not diverge, no gaps are formed.
  • Thanks to a special profile tuck, moisture and condensate drainage is provided well enough, which helps the material to resist rotting.
  • Walls before lining do not need to be further leveled or primed.
  • Lining "calm" is used for both vertical and horizontal surfaces.

The main disadvantage, like all high quality wood finishing materials, is the cost. The price per square meter of “calm” wall paneling is higher than the cost of the usual option.

It is worth noting that the high cost is justified by the corresponding quality. Here, the main factor of quality assurance is a proven and worthy manufacturer that complies with the technology of processing, storage and transportation of wood materials.

Materials

Raw materials for the manufacture of lining varied. To create a beautiful surface it is better to choose expensive woods. They resist rotting well, and their aesthetic qualities are very high.

Other types of wood are also chosen: pine, spruce, linden, aspen, oak, alder.

  • Cedar is considered an elite material. Such lining is used for internal finishing, its cost is rather big. Natural high tar provides natural protection against pests, decay, and also has a beneficial effect on human health. The smell of needles will dwell in such a room for quite a long time.
  • Larch profile is the most common material for facing baths, saunas and other rooms with high humidity. This type of wood is well tolerated by the effects of high temperatures and moisture, it is resistant to rotting. The healing properties of larch allow a person to strengthen the immune system due to the content of antioxidants in it. Panels from such lining can be established in nurseries, bedrooms for creation of a healing microclimate.
  • Linden products are difficult to confuse with clapboard made of other wood species. Her even beige tone and the smell of honey bring a festive atmosphere to the house. Lime linings can be used in bedrooms, children's rooms, dining rooms, as well as in all rooms where a lot of time is spent. Lipa produces many phytoncids that relax and positively affect the heart, blood vessels, and respiratory organs. At present, manufacturers of quality wood of this breed offer very little, so its choice should be approached especially carefully.
  • For lining of verandahs, balconies, arbors, often lining “calm” of spruce is used. It resists well temperature fluctuations, is not afraid of moisture and rodents. This material option is more affordable.
  • Lining made of pine is used in all rooms, except those where the microclimate is unstable. It is also often used for finishing from the outside. High resin content ensures antifungal resistance.
  • Widely used in the baths and saunas lining of alder. This wood is considered elite, its appearance is very beautiful - the color of chocolate with a reddish tinge and texture look elegant. Alder has good water-repellent properties, it is used even in hydraulic engineering construction. Lining "calm" from alder has a bactericidal property.

The most high-quality lining is made of wood raw materials without knots and cracks. For this, fragments of boards without knots are used and they are spliced using a special technology. Such material is called spliced lining. It is very durable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Today, manufacturers offer a wide selection of painted lining. These are prefabricated panels that have been treated with antiseptics, polished, primed, texturing and coloring under conditions of pre-sale preparation. Coloring is made by different materials: toning varnishes, stain, paints on wood. Such products have a good appearance, because the texture of the tree is correctly emphasized by experts and processed technically correctly.

Dimensions

Lining "calm" has a fairly large range of sizes.

  • Width varies from 90 to 140 mm. Manufacturers in Russia usually set this parameter from 90 to 150 mm, and imported boards have a width of 80 to 140 mm. The most commonly used parts are 110 and 120 mm in size, the lamella 140 mm wide makes installation as fast as possible. Profile height - 100-125 mm, spike length - 4-5 mm.
  • In the market of building materials, there are panels of “calm” lining made of pine 70 mm wide. It is possible to use it in small rooms for ease of installation.
  • The working width of the wall panel is reduced by the grooves and studs on the panel.
  • The standard length of the panels is 1.2-4 meters, but some manufacturers offer options up to 6 meters. This reduces the number of joints on the finished surface.
  • Popular sizes of sections of “calm” lining are 16x105, 16x135 mm, there are many options, you can choose them according to your needs.

Sorta

Lining "calm" in its quality is divided into varieties. The variety is determined depending on the class of raw materials used, the appearance of the front side, the number of knots per 1.5 linear meters of surface, and the wood type. There are 4 varieties.

  • Extra Grade Boards characterized by excellent quality, high thermal conductivity and good appearance. The ungainly spliced lining is a material of this kind. In this case, the wood material does not contain a single knot, the surface is smooth, clean, there are no defects. The color and texture of wood is stable. Board length up to 5 meters.
  • Grade "A". In this class, 1 knot per 1.5 running meters is allowed. Often boards of this grade of some breeds of wood (a pine, a larch) can not have differences from the highest class. Board length - up to 3.8 meters.
  • Grade "In". There can be up to 4 knots and 2 resin pockets per unit length of measurement. Board length - up to 5 meters. Most often used for flooring.
  • Grade "C". This variety is an economy class lumber. There may be knots, cracks, blue spots. Used in premises for household purposes, utility rooms, technical buildings. For lining "calm" such material is used very rarely.

Scope of use

In order to live in the cozy atmosphere of a wooden house, it is not necessary to build a house from a bar or set up a log house. It is enough to cover the walls and ceiling with clapboard. The wall, lined with “calm” clapboard, has smooth transitions to the junction of the panels and an even overall appearance. The inner lining looks like a complete canvas, so often such a wall paneling is called “wooden wallpaper”. The evenness of the resulting surface and ease of installation allow you to use this material on ceilings, especially if the result of finishing should be of the highest level.

In the interiors of residential houses, wood is one of the favorite finishing materials because of its coziness. And for many rooms it is excellent in terms of operation and design (baths, summer kitchens, interiors in eco, ethno, country, etc.) styles.

Expensive wood species can be used as inserts for placing accents in the room and creating decorative elements. It is better to use “calm” lining in houses where heating is provided, and the microclimate parameters are fairly stable.

Examples of interior decoration

The natural beauty of wood can emphasize toning. Designers often use lining slats to create bold solutions.

Light colors always make the room bigger.

Installing lining on a vertical axis visually increases the height of the room.

Horizontal lines extend the room.

Painted, as well as structured and aged lining gives a wide scope for the imagination of designers.
